Customer: replied 4 years ago.

This inmate has had previous desk top reviews but now wants to have an oral Parole Board hearing - he is an IPP and had gone 2 years over his tariff - does he have the right now to request and get an oral hearing from the Parole Board?

Expert:  Jo C. replied 4 years ago.
If he is on an IPP and has served his tariff period then he can seek release from the Parole Board.

However, its one thing to be through a tariff period and another thing to be making an application at the right time.

You should bear in mind that the Parole Board have to be convinced that there is no risk to the public if he is released and you have to make an application at the right time to achieve that.

But yes, you do have the right to seek a hearing at the Parole Board.

Hope this helps.
