The NIP is dated 07/02/2013. The date of the offence was 01/02/2013. Unfortunately they have been very prompt in issuing the paperwork!
When I contacted the Sussex Police Safer Roads Unit ( prior to seeking your advice) they intimated that because I went through the lights more than three seconds after the lights had turned red I could possibly receive 4-5 points and higher penalty. Is this so? I feel this would be harsh given the circumstances and I was wanted to know whether there was any way I could put in a plea of mitigation - written or oral - without making matters worse. Your further advice would be appreciated.
