Customer Question

in my divorce I have another home which i have owned a long time before I met my current partner... is the equity in this home taken into account as its only in my name?

Hi
Thank you for your question I shall do my best to assist you.
The equity forms part of the assets that the court will consider when it comes to the division of the assets between you.
The Court will certainly take into account the fact that you owned the asset prior to the marriage - but the priority for the court is the safe and secure housing of the child of the family - and then the reasonable housing needs of each party
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further assistance
