I have a buyer (UK) for my apartment in Ras al Khaimah. I live

Resolved Question:

I have a buyer (UK) for my apartment in Ras al Khaimah. I live in the UK too. The property is managed by British owned, The First Group Dubai. I have the title deeds to the property and no outstanding mortgage/payments. The buyer has approached me through Bayut.com. Do I need to sell through a lawyer and if so, should it be one in the UK?

A UK solicitor will not be able to assist with this but you would do well to consider appointing an English speaking Dubai lawyer to complete your sale to ensure that funds are transferred over to you as agreed and the legal formalities are completed satisfactorily.

Josh-2010 :

Your agent (assuming you have appointed one) can ask the buyer for proof of funds or in deed you could ask if you prefer to ensure that the buyer is able to proceed. It is not unusual for such a question to be asked of a buyer before a seller takes a property off the market.

I see - there is nothing stopping you asking for evidence of proof of funds any more than can an agent had you appointed one.
