my father died in January 2013

Customer Question

my father died in January 2013 and his partner was the executor and myself and my brother are the beneficiaries. A property was left to us which has now been sold and my father died with credit card debts. his partner is withholding the the statements of these supposed debts so we have no proof of them. We are questioning whether there are any debts and my brother has already given the partner £4,500 to cover some of the debts. Where do we stand with regard to the debts and the balance from the estate and know whether that she has either spent after the death of my father of the credit cards or has made up these debts and is having the £14,000 for herself telling us that my fathers debts came that totalled the full amount of the sale of the property. we are extremely upset over our fathers death and dont need these complication. Do you have a specific question?
Customer: replied 4 years ago.

We only have her word that he owed up £14,000 and have not seen proof of any of the debts, how do we stand?

Thank you. Do you think she is doing something underhand or
spiriting money away or do you simply want to know?

Is she doing this herself or is she using solicitors?

Does she benefit in any way under the terms of the will?

Did they live together and was she in any way dependent?

Thank you.
