Customer Question

I moved in with my girlfriend in September 2013. I soon realised that she had financial problems and was unable to obtain loans and credit. As I was living there I purchased on a loan a piece of furniture. In February my girlfriend got a new job which required travelling around the UK. Her vehicle was in a poor state of repair. I took out a further loan to purchase a vehicle to help her keep her job. I registered the vehicle in my name and taxed it. She transferred the insurance from her other vehicle to this new vehicle. The relationship broke down recently and I was advised to get a 3rd party to write to her to return my property and to ask her to nominate a 3rd party rather than using legal advisers because of cost. My 3rd party wrote to her requesting the return of the property within 7 days. She refuses yo use a 3rd party and has emailed me stating I can collect the furniture on a date stated by her. With regard to the vehicle she has stated that this was a gift. This was not the case as I have explained. We are writing to her again requesting the return of the vehicle on the same day as the furniture. We are arranging with the police to ensure there is no breach of the peace. If she refuses to return the vehicle my 3rd party is in possession of spare keys and intends to remove the vehicle with the knowledge of the police. If we do this what are the implications

Hi.

Thank you for your question. My name is Jo and I will try to help with this.

Is your post cut off ? What are the implications of what exactly?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

We have posted information to her but she continues to email or text. We have kept a record of all correspondence. What we mean by implications is we intend to sell the vehicle to offset the outstanding loan.

Expert:  Jo C. replied 3 years ago.
Please don't do that. You will end up in a police cell.

How much does she owe roughly?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

My son owes £4836 for the vehicle and £1200 for the furniture. What offence would we be committing by recovering the vehicle. She has decided what is a gift and what is not , to the extent that all Christmas and birthday gifts given to him she has refused to return stating that he does not own them.

Thanks. I hadn't.

Is she still in the UK at the moment? Will she remain here for a while?
