Im 20 years old and in September I came to London to begin

Customer Question

I'm 20 years old and in September I came to London to begin to study the direction of your dream . I wanted to know what the situation is with taxes in the case of a student that is to say I've heard that a student working less than 25 hours per week in general does not pay tax on their earnings , is it true ?

The second important question. Before coming to college tutat worked for 10 months as a live in au pair. I know that any benefits from the job center are only granted to people who over a period of minutes . years lived and worked in the UK. The problem is that the au pair program is not typical of gainful employment and more cultural exchange for young people and, being here in England but I was nowhere zajerestrowana my host mother and I left the agency through which can confirm that lived here during that time . I care about this because it has been to me two months and I could take it any funding which in my case can make a huge difference . I am a young , ambitious person who really wants to get a higher education , however, the cost of living in London are high and I can count on your own because my parents can not afford to help. Do isitnieje any way to " include " my stay as an au pair for a general time staying here ?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi,

Thank you for your question and welcome.

My name is AJ and I will assist you.

As Student you may not pay any tax if you work only 25 hours a week because you will earn less than your personal allowance. The personal allowance for the tax year 14/15 is £10,000. Therefore any earnings up to this point are free of any income tax.

Can I be of any further assistance?

Kind regards

AJ

Hello my name is Alex and I will help you with this. Please note that I am a working Solicitor and may be on and offline as I have to attend Court and meet with clients, even at weekends. As such you may not get an instant response when you reply as this is not an ‘on demand’ live service, but rest assured I will be giving your question my immediate attention upon return. There is no need to wait here, you will get an email when I reply.

I see the expert has opted out - do you still need help?
