An employee has certain rights in the workplace and one of these is the right not to be treated detrimentally due to their religious belief. This could be displayed through direct discrimination, where there is a direct detriment applied due to someone's religion, or indirect discrimination where the employer applied a practice, provision or criterion which places the employee at a particular disadvantage due to their religion.

In that claim the tribunal found that the employee had been unfairly constructively dismissed, although the employer was not guilty of direct discrimination. However, they did comment if she has claimed indirect discrimination she is likely to have also succeeded in that claim.
You will also see that the employer there had tried to rely on alleged misconduct to try and dismiss but it was just a ploy to disguise the actual reason.
She should contact the employer and remind them of her rights, perhaps pointing them towards this case. Ask them to allow her to return, otherwise make it clear she will not hesitate making a claim in the employment tribunal.
