I bought a second hand car from Mercedes Benz paying over a three year period.I made the final ,what they call the balloon sum for 10,000 the end of January,there was one outstanding payment remained to be paid in January also.I should say at this point my husband was paying for the car by direct debit from our company account,I took the car out in my name.The cheque for 10,ooo was signed by me and received by Mercedes.I waited for a letter of final confirmation from them to say the car was signed off to us.When I didn,t hear from themI telephoned Mercedes to inquire what the current situation was.According to my husband he paid the final instalment last Monday the17th of February.I spoke to a lady called Sarah at Mercedes Finance yesterday the 20th of February and inquired why I had,nt heard from them,and is there a problem?.She deferred me to a colleague who she said would phone me back.My phone wasengaged when she phoned and she left a message to get back to her.I telephoned her and was answered by someone else,I gave my name and asked if there was a problem with the account ,she was unable to help me.I expected a call back from jo ,but she failed to phone back.Today I received a letter dated yesterday the20th threatening legal action as there was an arrears of 535.24 outstanding.I checked with my husband to assure me this final payment was made .He assured me this was paid on Monday by text.I phoned Mercedes Benz Finance straight away and they told me it was paid on Monday.I asked them why they couldn,t have told me that yesterday,she replied it takes a few days.I feel very aggrieved,I think I have been treated in a dreadful way ,being threatened with legal acton when I could have been informed yesterday,instead they sent out a threatening letter the same day.In the event you are unable to help me,perhaps you could kindly direct me to the appropriate body or organisation.I don,t think they should be allowed to treat customers in this way.Thank you for reading this .Regards Brenda.
