Am I liable to repay half of a legal loan which my civil partner

Resolved Question:

Am I liable to repay half of a legal loan which my civil partner has taken out? We are currently going to court to resolve property and financial matters and she informs me that she has taken out a legal loan of 20k at 18 percent interest using one of our joint properties to guarantee the loan. I have signed no papers but she states that we are both obliged to repay this legal loan once the court proceedings are settled. Advice?

Hello,

What was this loan for?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.
A legal loan to pay for her solicitor/ barrister/ court costs for our dispute over property and finances

Thank you,

As you were not a party to the loan, you are not liable for it and it is really her problem to pay it back out of her share of the property, it is not for you to worry about.

She is wrong.

Hope this helps
