I have rented out a property (3 bede semi) for the last 10

Resolved Question:

I have rented out a property (3 bede semi) for the last 10 years. To start we had a standard 6 month short let contract with my tennant. I still have the same tennant, who pays the rent promptly, but I have never renewed any contract. Is there any danger in continuing like this?
Some people have told me the tennant can make a claim on the property after a time?

Hello,

What has now happened is that the original tenancy has automatically become a periodic tenancy.

The tenant cannot make an ownership claim on the property as they are not in adverse possession i..e they are in the property with permission as tenants and pay you a rent for this.

Hope this helps
