I am buying a property with a loan from a friend. My solicitor

Resolved Question:

I am buying a property with a loan from a friend. My solicitor disclosed this private information quite unnecessarily to the vendor's solicitor. This came back to me through the vendors estate agent who has been a friend for 30 years and I did not want them to know my private business. What recourse do I have against my solicitor for breach of confidentiality?

Hello,

This is very serious as solicitors are not allowed to disclose their client's matters with anyone without the client's consent or unless required by law.

You may complain against your solicitor to the SRA as this is an ethical issue involving breach of the Solicitors Code of Conduct
