Under Scottish law, if a child aged 24 elects to do a 3 year

Resolved Question:

Under Scottish law, if a child aged 24 elects to do a 3 year PhD, does the parent's obligation for financial support stop when that child reaches the age of 25, or continue until the PhD is completed in 3 years time?

Thank you for your question.

The liability to aliment a child ceases when the child is 25, not when the course finishes.

Happy to discuss further.
