How much is the plate valued at please?
a fair valuation would be £500 - £600
But it could be worth more to the right buyer or if kept as an investment.
Not future loss but current value £500 - £600?
I assume you accept you have no hope of getting it back?>
There is no hope of getting it back.
You should to write and set out your losses and ask for a refund within 14 days or say you will go to Court. Make sure you send this recorded delivery and keep a copy.
You need to get 3 valuation quotes roughly to give you a loss and pick the lowest one
If they refuse then you can issue proceedings which can be done online at: www.moneyclaim.gov.uk or by competing form N1 at: https://hmctsformfinder.justice.gov.uk/courtfinder/forms/n001-eng.pdf
The Court will then issue the claim which will be sent to the seller and they will have a limited time to defend it, if not you can enter Judgment and enforce it. If the matter is defended it will be set down for a hearing. If the losses are £10,000 or less then it will be a small claim and you do not need representation.
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
So there is no compensation for the loss? the best I can hope for is just the value of the plate.
That is your compensation - the value of the plate.
You can't claim for future loss because you dont have any
If it had been you were injured and couldn't work then you can claim future loss
But if you had a Rolex and the Post Office lost it, you couldn't claim what it may be worth in 10 years time
Does that clarify?
It Does. Thank you.
