Alex Watts :

Hello my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will help you with this. Please note that I am a working Solicitor and may be on and offline as I have to attend Court and meet with clients, even at weekends. As such you may not get an instant response when you reply as this is not an ‘on demand’ live service, but rest assured I will be giving your question my immediate attention upon return. There is no need to wait here, you will get an email when I reply.

Alex Watts :

It is a matter for you.

Alex Watts :

There is no legal requirement

Alex Watts :

But if you are licenced you also need to check the conditions

Alex Watts :

It may say you need security over x people

Alex Watts :

But if not then no you do not

Alex Watts :

Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?

Customer:

that really isn't an answer I need a yes or no, do the licensing laws in Wales UK say we must have door men if the function at a private rugby club is over 100 people? Our Club is licensed to hold up to 120 people

Customer:

perhaps you can send me a link to the licensing law that this applies to?

Alex Watts :

No

Alex Watts :

There is no statutory requirement that says you need security for over 100 people.

Alex Watts :

Does that answer for you?

Customer:

can you point me to the legislation so that I can inform my club about this?

Alex Watts :

That is the thing, if there is no statutory requirement it won't be in legislation

Alex Watts :

The law in the UK is prohibitive

Alex Watts :

That means if you can't do it, it will be prescribed by law

Alex Watts :

What remains means you can

Alex Watts :

Does that answer the question for you?

Customer:

ahh I see, ok thats fine thanks very much for your help.

Alex Watts :

If this answers your question could I invite you leave feedback on my service which I hope has been excellent today, if you need more information or help then please click reply.
