Ask a Law Question, Get an Answer ASAP!
Hello my name is Alex and I will help you with this. Please note that I am a working Solicitor and may be on and offline as I have to attend Court and meet with clients, even at weekends. As such you may not get an instant response when you reply as this is not an ‘on demand’ live service, but rest assured I will be giving your question my immediate attention upon return. There is no need to wait here, you will get an email when I reply.
Have you written to the club please?
Yes, as already mentioned in my question, we wrote about this in 2013.
Potentially you have a claim under the Equality Act 2010
This is where someone suffers less favourable treatment because of age discrimination
You potentially have a claim and should take the following steps
1) Write - which I take it you have already done
2) Complain to the Equality Commission
They can investigate your complaint and are independent of the club
Their website is:
3) Take it to Court
You wont get legal aid because of cuts and would need to pay a Solicitor. The cost of a contested trial would be around £10,000
If you did lose you may have to pay the costs of the other side
I would therefore suggest that you take option 2) and complain to the Equaity Commission first
But based on what you have said, it does sound like it could be age discrimination
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
