If he does issue a claim then you send it to your insurers to deal with
I would imagine your insurers sent payment on a full and final settlement basis
This means he can't recover the difference from you
So if any paperwork comes immediately send it to your insurers.

They will defend it most likely.
As I said if he cashed the cheque full and final settlement, he can't claim again
