Hello Clare

I am filing for a divorce and using KC Law in London. They are specialists divorce lawyers. The reason for using them is because my new girlfriend insisted. I had a meeting and they explained they would help and £410 would be a court fee and they would charge £700 to complete the process. I gave them £500 upfront for them to proceed. They have an employee that deals with my case and her name is ***** ***** she is the girlfriend of the owner. Also ML works there also and ML knows friends of my girlfriend. The owner also knows my girlfriend and her friends. This is difficult because I am married and my girlfriend is from Turkey and we can be together only after the divorce because of her religion.

I was told that 500 has been placed into their books as profit and they needed £410 more to pay the court fee. I said I haven't got it but it will take a couple of weeks. During the past three weeks discussions have been ongoing with ML and my girlfriends friend talking about how much funds I had in my account and she doesn't know why I am not proceeding. They are getting frustrated that I need time to gather the funds. The owner also contacts my girlfriend and explains the same thing and says I have funds and we can see by his banking that he is rich and that he can proceed now. Also the owner has spoken to another person that also knows my girlfriend and now it seems the whole of north London and all my girlfriends friends and (allies and enemies) know our situation and its a serious situation we are in and delicate.

I have explained I want my money back but they said there are billable hours and they are trying to say the filled in a form twice even though I gave them all the details on the original form. And now I have explained I am not happy they wanted to know what has been said by whom because this is a serious allegation, I agreed and now need advice. Please help me as I need to know if I can get the funds back or even take legal action because a Christian and a Muslim relationship is delicate especially when I am married. We are waiting, however we face a lot of stress and anxiety during these times.

Hi
The solicitor is not allowed to discuss your private affairs with anyone other than those you have authorised them to speak to
You should make a formal complaint to the complaints partner and if that fails you should take the matter to the SRA - details here
http://www.sra.org.uk/consumers/problems/report-solicitor.page
This is not a complaint about poor service - it is a complaint about breaches of confidentiality
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details

Is there case where I case take action to get my funds back or even compensation with the problems and anxiety they has caused the past 6-8 weeks?
