Hi... I rent a private property and I have lived here for 18

Customer Question

Hi... I rent a private property and I have lived here for 18 months. I have just paid for the next 6 months on the 23rd may but not signed any contract. I want to leave my tenancy and have the remaining rent I paid returned but they have told me that I can leave but wont pay my rent to me. my job has re-located and will have to move but I didn't sign any tenant agreement. Please help!

Thanks Brian

Hi.

Thank you for your question. My name is Jo and I will try to help with this.

Why did you if you wanted to leave?

I presume you haven't given notice?
Customer: replied 3 years ago.

When I paid the rent upfront on the 23rd may, my circumstances where fine but they have changed since then. I phoned the estate agents on Tuesday this week any said I was putting in a months notice and they told me I can't because I paid the rent upfront and I told them that I hadn't signed any contract.....They just told me "its there policy"

Thats bad news I'm afraid.

Can you find a replacement tenant?

I kind of knew this information but I needed a second opinion and it doesn't help me anymore than what I knew. I wish to have my deposit returned please

In that case, I will opt out.
