If a close relative of mine has been dishonourably discharged

Customer Question

If a close relative of mine has been dishonourably discharged for going AWOL in the mid to late 1960's from the British Army would it affect my employment as a civilian worker either with the British Armed Forces or with a British Police Force? Thank you.

My name is***** and I'm happy to help with your question today.

Alex Hughes :

The short answer to your question is 'no'. Somebody else's discharge from the Army some 60-years ago will not have any bearing on your or your application for a job with BAF or BPF.

Again a similar query. If a close relative has recently had to attend a speed awareness course due to committing a speeding offence would that have any bearings on my employment with a British police force? Thank you.

What about if a close relative has recently attended a speed awareness course due to committing a speeding offence, would that have any bearing on my employment with a UK police force?

Good evening

That issue you raise will make no difference to you whatsoever.

If you were connected to somebody who was involved in terrorist or other very serious criminal activity then it might make a difference.

But a relative attending a speed awareness course will have no bearing on your application whatsoever.

Hope this helps.
