my german wife is looking to aquire a german state pension.She is 56,our son is 5/8 german and has applied through his mum for german citizenship.. We have recently separated and are sorting our affairs out. My query is, will she be elligable having not lived in Germany for 25 years, and having not contributed to the german equivalent of national insurance. Thankyou

Hello,
This German website states that the entitlement to receive ANY German pension depends on the claimant having made contributions for minimum insurance periods, ranging from 5 years to 35 years.
If your wife has never made any contributions in Germany, she will not be eligible for a German pension, see here for confirmation
