Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this.
Its bad news I am afraid.
What does that mean?
You have no right to get information relating to convictions on other people
Whilst proceedings are a matter of public record, the actual convictions and police national computer data are held under the Data Protection Act
This means that this can not be disclosed to a third party without a Court order
Sadly therefore you can't get PNC convictions on other people without their consent, which clearly in this case would be impossible
It would be a breach of the Data Protection Act.
Ok it was my partners father and we have just learnt he was part of the IRA and wanted to find out if this was true
Ok - you have no way of verifying this sadly as the PNC is held privately.
I am sorry that this is not the answer you are looking for and certainly not the one I want to give you, but I have a duty to be honest
Might I suggest google search the name and IRA to see if anything comes up on web archives?
Can I clarify anything for you about this today please?
no thats all thanks
Can I help with anything further today?
You could try the library archives of old papers?
