I have signed a contract 4 weeks ago and in the clause on payment

Customer Question

I have signed a contract 4 weeks ago and in the clause on payment it says ...£500 payable within 10 working days of the date of signature hereof or receipt of an invoice thereafter...
Does this mean I actually have to send an invoice to get paid?

Alex Watts :

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will help you with this.

Alex Watts :

No it means that you are entitled to payment with a signature OR invoice

Alex Watts :

Does that help?

Alex Watts :

Can I clarify anything?

Alex Watts :

But for the avoidance of doubt I would send an invoice as well

JACUSTOMER-j12vemjv- :

So Alex I have not sent an invoice...but I was hoping the clause meant I didn't have to send an invoice to get paid.

Alex Watts :

No, if there is a signature (not sure what for) you are entitled to be paid

JACUSTOMER-j12vemjv- :

Would say then that I would not have to send an invoice...sorry it is just that I need to know if I have to send an invoice to get paid.

Alex Watts :

No

Alex Watts :

Invoice or signature

JACUSTOMER-j12vemjv- :

OK Alex thanks...just wish it would just say that...thanks for your help

Alex Watts :

Can I help with anything else today?

JACUSTOMER-j12vemjv- :

no that's it thanks

Sorry Alex as there is a signature then would you agree I am not obliged to send an invoice....it is just I am being asked for one and when I point out I don't need one there is a bit of a difference of opinion.

Expert:  Ash replied 3 years ago.
Correct although generally the customer will require an invoice for tax purposes.
