Gd Morning. My builder owes me £6,400, an unreturned deposit.

Customer Question

Gd Morning. My builder owes me £6,400, an unreturned deposit. He is now preparing his company for Voluntary Liquidation. I have been in touch with the liquidation company and have asked them to place me on the Creditors list. I know that another creditor has sold on his debt. Would this be the best way of getting my money back ? I am furious as I know the builder is working for cash in hand doing plastering work for in excess of £250 per day. I have also considered taking him to a small claims court. Can you please advise what is the best way to tackle this rogue ?

Hi,
Thank you for your question and welcome.
Was the money sent to the builders personal bank account or his company bank account?
Kind regards
AJ

I transferred the money to the act details given at the top of his headed paper, I assumed it belonged to his business. I have just emailed my bank to see if its attached to his business in any way. I await their response.

Hi,
Thank you.
Once you have this information can you let me know as it will affect the answer.
Has the creditors meeting occurred yet?
Kind regards
AJ

Again, awaiting a response to see when this meeting will take place with the creditors. I called the company only this morning. The bank are dealing with my request.

Before I was made aware of his intentions to liquidate his company, he came back and fitted two false ceilings in my sitting rooms. I paid him £800 cash.

How do I continue this conversation with you, as I should imagine the info from the bank may take some time.
