if a child steels a car and crashes it and only damage to the car but the police find it and i don't want to press charges will they stop the case?

This depends upon the circumstances. If the "child " had no driving licence then a number of offences apart from taking the car were committed all of which are serious so it is unlikely that they would not prosecute. If the car was taken without permission then at the very least it was driven without insurance.
If on the other hand the chill normally had use of the car was had a licence and insurance and the issue was taking it without parental consent they might be persuaded not to prosecute.
