setup a company and selling organic herbal caps

Resolved Question:

Hello good morning

I would like to setup a company and a new brand selling organic herbal capsules, something like (Green Tea Capsules 400mg), I don't want to sell medicine (chemicals), but more like herbal suplements, and some of them I will make at home such as Garlic pills....

Is there any legal issues if I make them from home and sell them online?

Is there any legal requirement that prevents me selling them?

Or what are the legal requirement that I need to fulfill to create them at home and sell them online ?

Thank you very much

Claudio

Hello Claudio,

Thank you for your question.

The selling of herbal products is regulated in the UK.

The regulator is the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

You will require a product licence from the MHRA before you start selling your products online.

There are 2 types of product licences:

1) a full marketing authorisation (MA licence); or

2) a traditional herbal registration (THR).

I would suggest that you consult MHRA to see which type of licence you will require from them.
