for digs living in scotland who should by law the microchip

Customer Question

for digs living in scotland who should by law the microchip be registered to? we are an English rescue who have rehomed dogs in scotland but all our 'chips' remain registered to us as a rescue is this legal in Scotland?

Thank you for your question.
Under Scots law there is no requirement to microchip a dog so there are no rules about this. Obviously if there is a way of transferring an existing chip registration that should be done when the dog is rehomed but that is not a legal requirement, just a matter of good practice.
