Alex J. :

Hi, Thank you for your question and welcome. My name is ***** ***** I will assist you. I am sorry to hear of your loss. You are not personally liable for your wife's debts unless you personally guaranteed them in writing.

Alex J. :

You cannot be held liable for some one else's debts unless you agree to accept liability in writing - the law for this is the Statute of Frauds 1677.

Alex J. :

The bank may be able to claim for these from your late wife's estate.

Alex J. :

For example if she had any assets.

Alex J. :

I look forward to hearing from you.
