Can I assign my current Buildings Insurance Policy to a buyer for my home?

Expert:  Aston Lawyer replied 2 years ago.
Hi,
I'm afraid not. Your Buyer will have to take out a new Policy in their own name.
If there is a query with the Insurance, preventing your Buyer from getting a policy with another Insurance Company, your existing Insurance Company are under a duty to continue with insuring the property for your Buyer, provided the query which is preventing your Buyer from getting insurance elsewhere was disclosed to your insurance Company, when you took out the policy.
I hope this helps and sets out the legal position.
Kind Regards
