Can a codicil in Scotland be witnessed by the solicitor who

Resolved Question:

Can a codicil in Scotland be witnessed by the solicitor who wrote the original will and who is himself a beneficiary of the original will and has a daughter who would be a beneficiary of the codicil.
Also, should the codicil state the date and place where it was signed.

Thank you question.
In the circumstances you describe, the codicil should be witnessed by someone else.
The codicil does have to state the date and place of signature. This is normally added in what is called the testing clause, once the deed is signed and witnessed.
Happy to discuss further.
