Resolved Question:

I found recently that I had been paying by DD I think, without being aware of it, £8.00 pcm to a firm called 'Pract Act. I blocked it via my bank, but in all it has cost me £160.
I looked online but could not find a firm f that name. I originally thought it was a charity because I do fund several charities. I contacted one and they gave me the email 'magoosh'
etc. but denied receiving money from me. What can I do?

The direct debit guarantee will see that you are refunded any monies deducted from your account with your agreement. So you need to lodge a complaint with your bank to investigate who the originator of the direct debit is and on what authority the deductions have been made from your account. If the money has been deducted without your agreement then you must be given a full refund. Obviously if it appears that you have authorised the payments then no refund will be due.
