If after you are caught speeding I understand the offence

Customer Question

Hi
If after you are caught speeding I understand the offence will carry 6 points .
If you are then subsequently caught again , is it 6 points again, or 3 ?
This is the total 6 or 9 ?

Hi.
Thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I will try to help with this.
It depends on the speed limit and the speed. It is the number of miles over the speed limit that determines the sentence and number of points.
If you can give me that information then I might be able to tell you what you are facing?
But there are no set number of points for all offences of speeding.
Can I clarify anything for you?

Hi

If the speed was 59 in a 50 on both occasions , what would the outcome be ?

Expert:  Jo C. replied 1 year ago.
Three points and a fine on both occasions.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Sorry , what I forgot to add was I have been on a speed awareness course in the last 3 years and the 3 points associated with that was removed.

What my question is , if you are then caught again within the same 3 years .

I understand you get 6 points if you get caught after having done the course - but if you are subsequently caught again , do you get 6 points again , or juts 3

Thus is it 9 (6+3) in total or is it 12 (2*6)

Sorry I wasn't clear before

Expert:  Jo C. replied 1 year ago.
No, you don't.
If you were doing 59 in a 50 mph zone then you get 3 points.
Customer: replied 1 year ago.

So, just to be clear, even though I have been on the speed awareness course in the last 3 years - I would only get 3 points for each speeding offence, thus 6 in total

Is this correct ?

Expert:  Jo C. replied 1 year ago.
if you were only doing 59 in a 50 zone.
That is correct.

OK

Many thanks
