Resolved Question:

can an employer get a court order to search your home if they feel you are holding confidential information?

An employer cannot do this. They can get a production order for, say,a computer or it's records but as this is an infringement of your rights they would need very strong evidence and you get lots of notice.

The police can seize a computer from your home but only if they, realistically, suspect a serious offence has been committed.

I hope this helps. If you require any further information , please reply.
