When calculating child maintenance children do I factor

Customer Question

When calculating child maintenance for my children do I factor in my partners child who lives with us? She does not receive child maintenance for him. If so what % reduction do I apply. My weekly gross income after pension contributions is £1,680.00. Many thanks.

Hi
Thank you for your question.
My name is Clare
I will do my best to help you but I need some further information first.
How many children do you have and how many nights a week do they spend with you?

Hi Clare,

I have two children. They are with me on average 3 nights a week which I believe applies a 3/7 reducing factor. Thanks.

Hi
Your maintenance liability is 16% of 89% of your gross income - there is an 11% discount as you have a child living in your household.
In addition there will also be a 3/7 deduction due to the amount of time the children spend with you.
I hope that this is of assistance - please ask if you need further details
