If tax credits were claimed by a male ex- partner, who cleverly had it paid into his then female partner's bank account two years ago, subsequently 'forgot' to let them know that his circumstances were better, is the female responsible for paying half the debt being chased by Rossendale Debt Collectors on behalf of HMRC?
