Resolved Question:

I am a student and caught for illegally photographing in a cinema. The video is about 3 seconds and quite unclear. It has been informed of the police and I am waiting for the result now. What should I do? Do I need a lawyer to handle this?

Hi.
Thank you for your question. My name is ***** ***** I will try to help with this.
is this a pirate copy of the film?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

Hello Jo, I think that it should be but I am not sure about it. The whole video was about 3 seconds and I have sent it to one of my friend. Also the police has come.

I am from China and not familiar with the laws in UK. I wonder I could do something to affect the result. What should I do now? :)

Thanks a lot.

Ok.
Is this a film that you were making?
Have you done this before?
Generally pirate films are films rather than photographs by definition.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No, it was the film minions and this was the first time that have done it.

Expert:  Jo C. replied 2 years ago.
Yes, but I presume you were filming the film?
For the purposes of a pirate DVD?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

No, I took a short video (about 3 seconds) and just informed of on of my friend that I was watching that film.

Did the police seize your equipment?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.

They have checked my phone and returned it to me.

Expert:  Jo C. replied 2 years ago.
I'm not actually sure that anything will happen here.
There are obviously offences in filming in this way and certainly in making a pirate DVD. However, if they were investigating that they should have seized your equipment. It doesn't really make any sense that they did not.
Even if you admitted the offence they should have seized the pirated matter.
You might be banned from the cinema and probably the chain.
If the police do make contact now then it seems to me that they have no evidence that you were doing this since they didn't seize the equipment so you should be making a no comment interview.
Can I clarify anything for you?
