A solicitor is entitled to write to a person making allegations on behalf of his client. The solicitor can only act on instructions. It is for the client to provide the proof if the allegations later have to be proved in court or otherwise. If there is no proof their case will fail but there is no requirement to provide proof at the "letter" stage.
