My dad has Alzheimer's and is going to have a mental capacity

Customer Question

My dad has Alzheimer's and is going to have a mental capacity assessment and the likely outcome will be residential care. My dad will be self funding will
1. Social services seize/freeze his assets
2. Would it be possible to rent his house to help cover the costs
We don't have a lasting power of attorney so we are unable to make decisions about his well being without his agreement but what can be done if anything by the family to free money in ISA s to cover the care costs. We have power of attorney for finances but we are not sure what this really allows us to do. Is there some form or process that his GP can do to enable us to do this
