1. Yes, there is a two year time frame starting at the date of death within which the Deed of Variation must be signed in order to take advantage of the Inheritance Tax Act exclusion. If the Deed of variation is signed after this date, it will not result in avoiding Inheritance Tax for the initial beneficiary under the variation of the will.
