Customer Question

My uncle has just passed away. His son and daughter have been estranged from him for 25 years. He made my mother next of kin through hospitals and doctors but it seems hasn't left a will. Where doe's my mother stand?

Hi

Thank you for your question

My name is Clare and I shall do my best to help you.

I am afraid that the fact that he has named your mother as "next of kin"for medical purposes no longer has any relevance.

Now that he has dies the Intestacy Rules apply and assuming he has no spouse his estate will be shared equally between his children.

I am sorry to give such bad news - please ask if you need further details
