My mother's life insurance came through may 2015 and

Customer Question

Hello
My mother’s life insurance came through may 2015 and was distributed. Myself and my siblings each received about 1400 each . Because there was so much to deal with I may have overlooked the fact that I may have had to contact the DWP about this. I will be getting a compliance interview at home this month but this has probably been because I recently changed my account or was done randomly. Obviously I will share the details of all my accounts with them and on these they will see I have been paid the life insurance policy. Should I have told them about receiving this one off amount. If I was supposed to tell them would it be advisable to now send and print off the email correspondence from my solicitor informing me about receiving a payment in May 2015. Or should I just wait for the compliance interview at home and tell them then. I did not purposefully not inform them - there has been a lot to deal with and my heads been all over the place. Has soon has the money came in it was paid out to debts. It was paid into my savings account which I may have set up at some point after my tenancy. The DWP and Council only have details of my old current and new current account. Before the compliance interview should I inform the DWP of my savings account. There is usually nothing in the savings account but sometimes I use it to budget and manage whatever money I get. My other concern is that over the last eight years I have paid some of the money I get from my small civil service pension into a stakeholder pension . I don’t think I have been able to pay anything into it for 4 years. I may have phoned them up at some point and was advised that if it was small amounts that I paid in on ad hoc basis this should be ok. Capital may be disregarded when you pay into a pension until you claim it. They have asked for 12 month bank statements and details of savings I have . Does this include money I have paid into a pension. Just need some advice about what to do. I get ESA contribution and income related, DLA and Housing Benefit to pay my full rent.

Hi Jo
They have forwarded my number - I will wait in for you . I suppose I am worried about the compliance interview and need to establish what information I need to give them if I haven't done this already. It may be best to send information now before my compliance interview which I have requested at home with an advocate.
