I have just booked my 93 year old mum's funeral in advance

Customer Question

I have just booked my 93 year old mum's funeral in advance using the cash she has saved to pay for it over the past few years. She is still active but closed her bank account years ago as she cannot walk far, does not see or hear well and relies on myself and my siblings to care for her needs. My sister collects her pension and the little that is left over from living costs goes in a tin. Now mum has paid for her funeral she will slowly start to accrue a small amount of cash. Mum has no other assets, she lives in a rented almshouse, owns her own furniture and clothing but nothing else.
Having booked her funeral I am thinking about anything else I will have to do at her death. Mum has talked with us about sharing out her sentimental possessions. What else do I need to think about?

Hi,If your mother has not made a Will, it may be worth her having one drafted. She can either buy an off the shelf product or visit a local solicitor to prepare on for her.I hope this answers your question.
