Posted by JustAnswer at customer's request) Hello. I would like to request the following Expert Service(s) from you: Live Phone Call. Let me know if you need more information, or send me the service offer(s) so we can proceed.
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

Kindly explain the situation further.

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
We got a new contract last year which was an education contract and the sign up was via the usage of an online system. We had a limited amount of time to get the students processed so we set up a default password ***** they could access their assessments and sign off their learning agreements. This was so we could all easily remember.
Now this is being questioned.
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

By whom?

Were the details passed to the students and we're they told to change them?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
questioned by the funding partners
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
the details were passed onto the students with access login details so they could easily commence their initial assessments
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
only told verbally they could change them when visited by their tutor
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

They should have been informed in writing.

This could be a breach of data protection legislation

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
the partners re-set the passwords so the learners change it themselves
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
they have done so
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

My phone is about to go flat, I will have to pick this up again later in the morning

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
the partners investigated and went beyond the encryption and were told what the generic passcode was which I believe to be a breach of data protection.I need some advise as I have to attend a meeting about this
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

When is the meeting.

Just put phone on charge

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Okay thanks. In a few days time
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I will be questioned about it. How should I respond?
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

You should just be honest and tell the truth. A breach of the DPA can result in a fine for the company

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Is that the worst they can do?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
To be honest the idea came from an ex-employee who is no longer with us and i believe has caused a stir which is why it is being raised
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Please advise..
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
I need to be certain that I will not have any comebacks on this if I am going to be honest
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Are they in breach themselves, by making finding out beyond the encryptions what the password *****?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Are you still there?
Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Please can you get back to me as it is urgent.
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. Do you still require a response?

Customer: replied 8 months ago.
Hi yes I do
Expert:  chatham-chamber replied 8 months ago.

Hi,

The worst they could do is terminate your contract due to gross misconduct.
