I took out Life Assurance of £150k mortgage some 15 years

Customer Question

I took out Life Assurance of £150k for my mortgage some 15 years ago. I have been paying a monthly rate of £46 per month, since I disclosed I had depression and they therefore said I was a high risk. Is this correct? Am I entitled to a rebate? What can I do?

I don't have all the details to hand, I'll have to retrieve them. As I said, when I took out my mortgage I also had to take out Life Assurance, I'd had a bout of depression which put me in hospital (not psychiatric) for a few days. I was also prescribed anti depressants which I've been taking ever since. My Insurers said I was a higher suicide risk, which is odd because if I did commit suicide they won't pay out anyhow. I have about three years to run on this policy.
