Customer Question

I have a dispute with an Internet Service provider. They lost all my e-mail so I moved provider. They invoiced my for £152.22 - but took no cognisance of my loss, phone calls etc. I sent then a cheque for £52.22 saying that this was for full and final settlement of the invoice.
They are now chasing me (via a debt collector) for the balance. I thought my letter was in effect a counter offer which they have accepted by banking my cheque?
Any advice welcome. i.e. Is it worth fighting them?
