I have been in my private rented property for 13 years (2003) and was recently given a hand written letter with 2 months notice to leave. My landlady has not changed the contract since 2008 and instead in 2010 put a note on a short term contract saying that the contract runs from April to April each year until one of us agrees to end it, we both signed.
I am a veteran with a spinal cord injury so in a wheelchair. I need at least 6 months to find asuitable accessible property to buy, whichwould take me to March 2017. The kicker is the landlady has buyers about to purchase this property.
Where doI stand legally and is a hand written letter notice, can she sell with me here and can she get me out before April?
