What number of Executors are required in the Wills of UK

Customer Question

What number of Executors are required in the Wills of UK residents

1. Dear *****, by law, only one executor is required in the case of a will made by a UK resident. Essentially, this one executor can administer the estate without assistance from anyone else. However, it is common to appoint two executors in a will in case one has predeceased the testator. This ensures that the will has an executor when the testator dies. Normally what happens is that one executor agrees to act and the other renounces their claim to be executor. However, only one executor is required by law.
