We took a 6 month assured short hold tenancy on our dream house/ garden/ stables/ fields with assurances in writing that this was a long term arrangement. We spent over £6000 getting the house the way we wanted. After 3 months and ten days we received notice that no further periods of assured shorthold tenancy would be granted as the landlord wanted vacant possession so as to help obtain residential planning conversion for ancillary buildings, stables etc. Can we sue for our costs, enormous emotional distress and enforce the promise and reassurances of long term security? Thanks.
