My ne'er-do-well stepson is guilty of fraud and the court

Customer Question

My ne'er-do-well stepson is guilty of fraud and the court has made a compensation order for him to pay his victim and also court costs. The judge has told him that he must pay these within six months or he will go to prison. My stepson says they can sing for their money and that he'd rather go to jail. If this happens, does it mean that the compensation and court costs will be waived in lieu of time served, or will he be made to pay them anyway?
