Resolved Question:

Hello, I have found out recently that there is a warrant for my arrest for not appearing at court after i've been charged with criminal assault. I'm not living in the UK anymore and I was wondering how long a this kind of warrant lasts and if it shows up on background checks. Thank you very much, Debbie
Assistant: Where are you located? It matters because laws vary by location.
Customer: sorry, not charged, but accused.
Assistant: Has anything been filed or reported?
Customer: the court told me that there is a warrant for my arrest after I've missed the court appointment, because i didn't get the letter in my absence. that's all i know.
Assistant: Anything else you want the solicitor to know before I connect you?
Customer: no thank you.

A warrant lasts for life.

The warrant will not show on DBS checks but the fact of the allegation will.

The warrant will show on police and court records though obviously.

Can I clarify anything for you?

Thank you for your help. So, if I apply for a non-immigrant tourist VISA for the USA are they going to check police and court records? What effects does this bench warrant have outside of the UK?
